Oil Gear Box manual

Gearbox oil is a specially formulated lubricant that circulates through the transmission system, reducing friction between moving metal components. Its primary purpose is to provide a continuous film that prevents metal-to-metal contact, thereby minimizing wear and heat buildup. In manual transmissions, the oil also helps to seal gear teeth and keep contaminants out. Proper lubrication ensures smooth gear engagement and prolongs the life of the gearbox under varying load and temperature conditions.

The gearbox oil is stored in a dedicated sump located beneath the transmission housing. From there, a pump draws the oil, delivering it through a network of passages to the gear sets, bearings, and synchronizers. When the oil degrades or becomes contaminated, it loses its viscosity and filtration capacity, leading to increased wear, overheating, and potential gear failure. Regular oil changes and inspection of oil levels are essential to maintain optimal performance and prevent costly repairs.
